About
John-Paul obtained his PhD in the laboratory of Prof. Kristian Helin at the University of Copenhagen. He functionally characterised putative histone demethylases in embryonic stem cells and leukaemia, including identifying the requirement of JMJD1C for leukaemia maintenance. In Denmark, he also worked at the biotech spin-off, EpiTherapeutics Aps to help identify therapeutic histone demethylase inhibitors. He briefly investigated the catalytic and non-catalytic functions of Tet proteins in mouse development at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. And is currently using biochemical and cellular assays to identify and characterise novel epigenetic activities of 2-oxoglutarate dependent oxygenases.
