Filomena Saulino

Filomena graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 2019 at the University of Salerno (Italy). Her research project was focused on the design and synthesis of new PROTACs for the degradation of epigenetic readers, under the supervision of Prof. Gianluca Sbardella.

After training in synthetic chemistry, she joined the Kawamura group with the aim of deepening her knowledge in chemical biology. In 2024, she completed her PhD at Newcastle University focused on the biochemical and biophysical characterisation of PHD-finger domains and the development of peptide-based chemical probes.

She is currently a postdoctoral research associate investigating cyclic peptides and small molecules targeting epigenetic proteins.

Out of the lab, Filomena enjoys reading, travelling and helping her parents finding a new home for rescued dogs and cats.
