Faye joined the group as a PhD student in 2025 as part of the North East England Doctoral Landscape (NEEDL), funded by the BBSRC. During her MChem at Newcastle University, she completed an industrial placement at GSK, working in New Product Introduction as an analytical chemist. Her final-year research project was carried out within the Kawamura group, working alongside Oliwia Curry on cyclic peptide-based inhibitors. After graduating, she spent the summer at AstraZeneca as a synthetic chemist in the Oncology Medicinal Chemistry department. Now back in the group, her PhD focuses on protein hotspot mapping for protein–protein interaction studies and peptide ligand discovery, in collaboration with Durham University.
