Eleanor Taylor-Newman

Eleanor graduated with an MChem degree from the University of Leicester in 2020. As part of this degree, she undertook a placement year at AstraZeneca and a research project with Dr. Richard Doveston. She then worked as a peptide scientist at Almac Sciences before starting her PhD in 2021 at Durham University, on the MoSMed CDT programme. Her PhD was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Steven Cobb and as part of a collaboration with Dr Graham Taylor at the University of Birmingham. Her research focused on the synthesis and testing of ligands and PROTACs to target the Epstein-Barr Nuclear Antigen 1 protein. Eleanor joined the Kawamura Research Group in January 2026 as an EPSRC Postdoctoral Pathways Fellow. She is interested in applying mRNA display to identify peptide binders against target RNA. Outside the lab, Eleanor can often be found on the netball court.
