About
Joanna trained as a biomedical scientist in Malta. She completed an MSc in Drug Design and Biomedical Science with Distinction in 2013 (Edinburgh Napier) and her Chemical Biology CRUK/EPSRC DPhil in the group based at the University of Oxford. Her research focused on the biochemical and cellular characterisation of histone demethylases (KDMs). Specifically, she investigated the alternative roles of KDMs, including arginine demethylation, and the interactions of these enzymes with non-histone proteins that have important roles in cancer. She is currently focusing on the optimisation of high-throughput mRNA display and is the Scientific Officer for the Chemical Biology Labs in Newcastle University.
