Thomas joined the Kawamura Research Group in 2024, after completing a degree apprenticeship in Applied Bioscience with the University of Kent. During the apprenticeship Thomas was working at UCB Biopharma for over five years in antibody discovery – in the display technology team, using both phage and yeast display to discover antibodies against numerous targets. He joins the Kawamura Group at Newcastle University as part of the Molecular Sciences for Medicine (MoSMed) CDT in collaboration with Novo Nordisk and is aiming to use mRNA display to discover cyclic peptides against cell and tissue targets.
Outside of the lab, Thomas enjoys all sports both watching and participating, comedy and music.
