Cecilia received her MSc in Biochemistry at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). As part of this program she completed a research project studying the process of carcinogenesis induced by HPV proteins at National Cancer Institute of Mexico. She worked in the pharmaceutical industry before undertaking her PhD at the Aix-Marseille Université (France), where she screened and developed microtubule-targeting peptides as anti-tumoral agents. Cecilia joined the Kawamura Group in 2023, where she will explore cyclic peptides as ligands for a variety of targets applying chemical and biochemical approaches.
